A Life Cut Short by Tragedy
John was reported missing on February 8, 2025, after being last seen leaving Hoss’s Deli around 1 a.m. on Saturday. Following an extensive search by the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, his body was discovered on February 12, 2025, near the southbound lane of George Washington Memorial Highway, close to the Newport News city line.
Authorities have determined that John’s passing was the result of a fatal hit-and-run. The incident has been classified as a case of felony involuntary manslaughter-DUI and felony hit-and-run with injuries. The person responsible for this heartbreaking event, Elizabeth Castro, 52, has been arrested and charged in connection with the crime.
